Week two is in the books in Spain, and thanks to a late breakthrough Barcelona are celebrating three points this week. Part of our coverage here at Everything Barca is dedicated to keeping you updated on the Barcelona players spending the 2023/24 season away from the team.

We’re also going to include updates on the players who we have buy-back options on who left this summer.

Pablo Torre (Midifelder) – On loan at Girona (La Liga)

After Barcelona struggled to handle Getafe, Girona showed the La Liga champs how it’s done running out 3-0 winners at the Estadi Montilivi.

Unfortunately for Torre, he failed to crack the starting lineup and was used as a late substitute coming on for Ivan Martin in the 84th minute to see the game out.

In total, he played 15 minutes with extra time. Both he and Barcelona will be hoping for more as the season progresses.

Julián Araujo (Defender) – On loan at Las Palmas (La Liga)

Las Palmas weren’t quite as lucky losing 1-0 away to Valencia, who are a perfect 2/2 to start the season.

Araujo started the game on the bench but was introduced in the 46th minute for right-back Alvaro Lemos, and ended the game as the joint second-highest-rated player according to SofaScore.

Araujo completed 82.6% of his passes and created one big chance that unfortunately was missed. He also won 4 of 5 contested headers. A good start for Araujo.

Alex Valle (Defender) – On loan at Levante (Segunda Division, Spain)

Levante were involved in an absolute thriller, beating Burgos 3-2 at home.

Valle started at left back for the Granota and finished with a 6.9 rating on SofaScore. He completed 73.9% of his passes and threw a key block to maintain the lead.

This was a really good run out for Valle who played the entire game.

Chadi Riad (Defender) – On loan at Real Betis (La Liga)

Betis managed a very respectable 0-0 draw at home to Athletico Madrid this week and following their opening-round win against Villareal, it puts them in good stead to start the season.

Chadi Riad was unfortunately an unused substitute.

Saïdou Bah (Forward) – On loan at CD Badajoz (Segunda Federación, Spain)

Bah only officially completed his loan move to CD Badajoz yesterday. The team have yet to start their domestic campaign and recently lost 2-1 to Cacereno in a club friendly.

Estanis Pedrola (Forward) – On loan at Sampdoria (Serie B, Italy)

Sampdoria kicked off their Serie B campaign with an opening day 2-1 victory away at Ternana.

Pedrola started as a left forward and was given a 6.6 rating by SofaScore. The Barcelona forward played 90 minutes and saw a shot cannon back off the woodwork. He also completed 92% of his passes including 5/5 on longballs.

Defensively he was a little loose, but it’s a solid start for Pedrola in Italy.

Sergiño Dest (Defender) – On loan at PSV Eindhoven ( Eredivisie, Holland)

Dest only completed his loan move earlier this week. PSV take on Rangers in a Champions League qualifier later tonight and it’ll be interesting to see if Dest features considering he’s had very little time with his new teammates.

Nico González (Midfielder) – Repurchase option at Porto (Primeira Liga, Portugal)

Barcelona hold a repurchase option of 30 million which is valid for two seasons, and they also hold a future sale clause of 40%

Porto made it 2 wins from 2 to start their league campaign with a 2-1 win at home to Farense. González started and played 68 minutes before being replaced.

The former Barca man was given a 7.5 rating by SofaScore and completed over 91% of his passes. He also had a couple of shots that failed to find the target.

Francisco Trincão (Forward) – Repurchase option at Sporting (Primeira Liga, Portugal)

Barcelona holds a repurchase clause of 20 or 25 million (depending on when it’s exercised). Barça also holds 50% of a future sale.

Finally, we have Sporting who scraped a 2-1 away win against Casa Pia. Trincão failed to make the starting lineup in Ruben Amorim’s preferred 3-4-3 formation.

He was introduced in the 88th minute for Paulinho but failed to make much of an impact.
