The continuing saga of Ansu Fati’s future with FC Barcelona appears to have taken another turn. According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, a new suitor has revealed themselves within the last couple of hours – Brighton & Hove Albion.  Roberto de Zerbi is reportedly “in love” with Fati and is trying to entice him with an important role within the club.

This comes, of course, off the heels of reports that Fati is close to Tottenham, having chosen the team from London over a potential move to Sevilla, which his father prefers.

In any case, it would likely be a loan deal, as multiple reports have revealed that Barcelona would like any team that takes him to pay 100% of his salary. While this may be unlikely, it’s becoming more and more clear that Ansu’s future, for now, seems to be outside of Catalunya.

It also seems likely the loan will be a simple one, with no purchase option or obligation. If that is the case, it will be a great deal for Barcelona, who will get him back year, and for Ansu, who will get more experience of opportunity elsewhere.

Xavi has also made it clear that he would be open to a move for Ansu only if said move is a loan. He may not see the 20-year old clearly in his plans at the moment, but he recognizes the value he could bring and the level he could reach with more regular playing time.

It’s clear that Ansu values a situation with more playing time and more of a starring role. A loan move to a team like Brighton would also be an interesting fit stylistically, as de Zerbi’s style is in many ways similar to Barça’s. It might be a good way for him to get some playing time and recover his top form.

Regardless, a move to England seems to be in the works for Fati. Due to this departure, it’s clear speculation about players like João Félix will continue.
