FC Barcelona's 2024/25 season has been incredible so far. Having won 10 out of 11 games in the La Liga campaign and having dominated mighty opponents Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Sevilla consecutively; the Blaugrana club has been in spectacular form this season. Be it the club's offensive front, their defense, or the midfield, the side has responded brilliantly under Hansi Flick so far.
Barca's prodigy star maintains the club's heritage by bagging the Kopa Trophy 2024
However, while certainly the success so far is a culmination of efforts from all players, special praise needs to be given to the club's ace prodigy, Lamine Yamal, who has been simply unstoppable this season. Having 13 goal contributions in the new season so far, Yamal has been breaking records for fun, and recently, the player added another achievement to his name, as he won the Kopa Trophy 2024.
Being on the back of an impressive season with FC Barcelona, where he recorded 16 goal contributions in 50 appearances, Yamal had a breathtaking Euro campaign, influencing his trophy win. With his national side, Yamal had an outstanding run as the wing star, and his five goal contributions, including a brilliant assist in the Finals, were key in Spain's Euro 2024 triumph.
Much deservedly for having such a commendable campaign, Yamal edged past prodigy superstars like Arda Guler, Kobbie Mainoo, and his teammate Pau Cubarsi to bag the Kopa 2024 award. While certainly, the 17-year-old's trophy lift has made all the Barca fans proud, Yamal also managed to continue the club's heritage. Not to forget, previously, star midfielders Pedri and Gavi had won the award in 2021 and 2022, respectively, and Yamal's triumph reinstated Barca's dominance in the award.
Moreover, what felt much more positive from the youth prodigy is that having finished 8th in the Ballon d'Or rankings, he made it clear that he hopes to get one soon. Expressing his desire to put his all for the esteemed award this season, Yamal mentioned,
""All players want to win the Ballon d'Or... I hope to win a Ballon d'Or as soon as possible. It's something I have in mind. I'm going all out to get it!""Lamine Yamal
Given the form Lamine Yamal has recently been in, having thrashed Bayern's backline and continuing his mavericks at the Bernabeu, it feels certain that the youngster would win the Golden Ball soon. Barca fans would hope that their 17-year-old prodigy star continues the form he has been in recently, going on to mark an era at the club.
