FC Barcelona are moving fast in the transfer market and are hot on the trail of Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi. According to Fabrizio Romano, the German international has already agreed personal terms with the Blaugrana and has told the Dortmund higher ups that the only destination he wants is Catalonia.

The attacker’s contract is set to expire in June 2027, however with Adeyemi making it abundantly clear he is not going to extend his contract, Dortmund is forced to sell the young prospect. Instead of watching the value of a player depreciate by around 40 million over the next twelve months, they will look to cash in this summer, with Barcelona having officially bid to bring the forward to Camp Nou this summer.

40M question, with swaps involved

Dortmund have resigned themselves to losing Adeyemi this season but are unwilling to let him go cheap. They are looking for around 40M for his departure. Barcelona are always dealing with financial fair play so it is unlikely that they will simply pay whatever is asked to sign the forward.

To avoid spending 40 million, Barcelona are looking into a cash plus player deal with both Bardghji and Guille Fernandez being two players who are reportedly interesting Dortmund in the Adeyemi deal. BVB might be tempted by such an arrangement as they get replacement already ready.

The ripple effect on Manchester United star Marcus Rashford

When a player like Adeyemi is being discussed for a move to Barca, it affects other potential targets. For weeks now, rumours had been flying around about Marcus Rashford linking with a permanent move to the Blaugrana after his season long loan.

However with Barcelona already having signed Anthony Gordon and are set to sign Adeyemi, the Rashford saga is over. FC Barcelona have seemed to already made their decision and have put Adeyemi’s profile first to ensure Hansi Flick has more attacking options in his arsenal for the upcoming campaign.

The coming days will tell all but expect FC Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund to thrash out the specifics. But one thing is for sure Karim Adeyemi has one team on his mind, and that is Barcelona.
