Barcelona looks to reinforce their attack with Marcus Rashford.

Despite the January transfer window closing soon—6 p.m. ET on February 3rd—Barcelona eyes the potential loan signing of Marcus Rashford from Manchester United. According to transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano, talks between Rashford’s entourage and Barça director Deco took place. Both sides seem eager to get the deal done; however, in order for the Catalan club to move forward with the transfer, they must first sell one or more players.

Ruben Amorim’s arrival at Manchester United has not fared well for Marcus Rashford. The United academy graduate has seen little playing time under the former Sporting Lisbon head coach. The forward’s start under new management was promising. He scored for the Red Devils in Amorim’s first game in charge, a draw against Ipswich Town, followed by two more goals against Everton in the next fixture. Nevertheless, poor results impacted Rashford’s playing time.

Rashford last made an appearance on December 12th, 2024, when Manchester United visited Viktoria Plzen for the Europa League. Since then, Amorim has failed to include the Englishman in his matchday squad in 10 of the last 11 games in all competitions. The one time he was selected, he sat on the bench and did not make an appearance. The lack of playing time has forced the 27-year-old to look for a transfer away from the Premier League giants.

Barcelona wants to take advantage of this conflict to bring Marcus Rashford to Spain; however, their financial situation has made it particularly difficult to bring new players to the club. Various sources have cited that Eric García and Ansu Fati are two players being weighed up for transfer to facilitate a deal for the out-of-favor United player. Hansi Flick believes that the potential transfer could play a crucial role in the hopes of winning a trophy or two.

One thing is certain: time is ticking, and if a deal is going to happen, it would need to occur soon. No official offer has been made as of yet, but that could change within the next couple of days.
