The transfer rumor machine rarely purrs in rhythm, and the chase for the marquee striker currently on Barcelona's radar is at the center of it once again today. Earlier today transfer window guru, Fabrizio Romano released news that Barcelona had added Sporting attacker Luis Suarez to their transfer shortlist of desired reinforcements.
According to the report that the Sporting striker was being considered as a backup target only in case their extremely hyped-up chase of Julian Alvarez failed to materialise.
The reports noted it would be a massive challenge to acquire Sporting’s star attacker, but stated that Barca were not ready to look to any backup plans until next week. Well, as it turns out, the story hardly had the chance to stick before another confirmation dropped out of Catalunya shutting it down for good.
Local sources from the FC Barcelona camps have strongly shut down the reports linking the Sporting front-man with a switch to Camp Nou. Sources have come out to declare firmly that Suarez does not and has not ever been in any sort of transfer negotiations with the Catalans, and furthermore, that the issue never was even brought to the table, not even for secondary targets.
The only plan according to them, is Julian Alvarez; nothing more and nothing less.
The management committee are investing all of their attention, and energy to persuading their rivals Atletico Madrid into breaking. Such rumors about Luis Suarez are a clear declaration to his advisors and supporters that no alternative targets are in contemplation and the full and undivided attention rests with Alvarez.
