Barcelona’s pursuit of the next Brazilian gem has entered the formal negotiation phase. According to Joaquim Piera, Deco has met with Palmeiras coordinator Joao Paulo Sampaio to establish an official approach for 16-year-old winger Eduardo Conceicao.
Barcelona have always had good scouting network in South America, but lack of funds and indecisiveness has always made Barcelona lose in the race against other European giants. Julian Alvarez from River Plate and Estevao Willian from Palmeiras are the latest examples of such scouting failures from Barcelona.
Who is "Dudu"?
Eduardo Conceicaoo, nicknamed Dudu, is currently the most explosive prospect in Palmeiras’ academy. At just 16 years old (born December 2009), he already stands 1.80m tall and possesses a physical profile that allows him to dominate against much older and physical players.

The breakthrough
In the early 2026 Copinha, he scored four goals in a single match, proving his clinical finishing from the wing.
He is a right-footed attacker who thrives on the left. His game focuses on verticality and speed rather than the slower, lateral dribbling often associated with youth wingers.
He signed his first professional contract in January 2026, and Palmeiras has protected him with a €100 million release clause that runs until 2029.
Tactical perspective
Conceicao can be a natural fit for Hansi Flick’s high-intensity system. Flick requires wingers who can carry the ball over long distances and contribute to the first line of the press. Unlike "playmaker" wingers who slow down the game, Dudú is a direct runner who attacks the box.
The decision for the future
Barcelona is monitoring the situation of the 16-year-old closely. But Barcelona also wants to avoid a bidding war with Manchester City, who are also monitoring the player. If Barcelona manage to secure his services, it will be a signing for the future.
Barcelona would look for the deal to follow a structured payment plan similar to the Vitor Roque transfer; a fixed fee around €30–35 million plus performance variables.
For a club managing a tight salary cap, locking in a pre-agreement now is a strategic necessity. If Conceicao makes his senior debut for Palmeiras later this year, his price will likely exceed the current negotiation range.
