Barcelona needed a response, and they gave it in convincing style. After two straight losses to PSG and Real Madrid, Barcelona came back with a decisive 6-1 win against Deportivo Alaves, making it clear to La Liga that this is a formidable side if their attack is clicking. Alaves was the 7th-placed team in the La Liga table before entering this game, and they had already proven that they could give tough competition to the more experienced teams like Atletico Madrid, Athletic Club, and Villarreal.

Lamine Yamal and Raphinha Spark Barcelona's Revival

Lamine Yamal and Raphinha each scored twice, while Fermin Lopez added a goal and delivered two assists. Yamal was also involved in an assist for the Barca side, showing how vital he was on a day in which the movement of the attack in Barcelona proved too much for Alaves. Anthony Gordon got the last score of the day from the substitutes' bench, adding his name to the list of scorers in what was an excellent effort from the team.

The defeats to PSG and Real Madrid from last week will not have been at the back of their minds as they played with confidence and flair. The performance also highlighted Barcelona's depth. With Andreas Christensen, Dani Olmo, Eric Garcia, Roony Bardghji and Xavi Espart on the injury list, Flick's side could have struggled to maintain its rhythm. Instead, Barcelona controlled proceedings and found goals from several different sources.

One Defensive Lapse Still Raises Questions

Even though it is just one goal, the clean sheet could not be maintained because Barcelona conceded in the 84th minute. A goal conceded in the 84th minute during a 6-1 victory would normally be considered irrelevant. However, in light of what transpired the previous week, there is no wonder that the fans are now very observant about any defensive mistake.

In more challenging situations, a small error might actually result in defeat. This is what separates winning comfortably from competing for accolades.

Barcelona building on this La Liga win

The response to this question will depend upon how the coming matches unfold. The positives for the Catalan giants after their excellent performance are obvious, as the likes of Yamal and Raphinha scored for the club, while Fermin was a player who impressed both as an attacker and a creator from the bench. Now is the time when the Barcelona players and coaching staff could bask in the glory of their recent triumph at home.

The reaction was great, the attack was electrifying, and the mood has certainly been lifted at the club.
