Barcelona vs Getafe match preview

Barcelona have looked completely unstoppable to start the season, so will their scintillating form continue after the international break? Last time out, despite falling a goal behind, Hansi Flick's side roared back to beat Sevilla 3-1, courtesy of Raphinha's hat-trick at Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.

This made it seven wins out of seven in La Liga for Barça, scoring a ridiculous 31 goals. On top of this, they also demolished Feyenoord 5-1 in their Champions League opener. However, tougher tests are right around the corner for Flick's team.

Their next two league fixtures are Real Betis away followed by a Clásico, as well as taking on Galatasaray in İstanbul and then Paris Saint-Germain away in the Champions League. This will be a crucial fortnight for Flick's team but, first and foremost, will their flawless start continue here?

As for Getafe, they finished seventh last season, so are looking forward to commencing their Conference League campaign against Universitatea Craiova on Thursday. Under José Bordalás, you know what you are going to get from Getafe, a team that is physical, robust and tough to break down.

Last time out, los Azulones claimed just their second victory of the season; Iván Azón bundled his way through to snatch victory late on against Málaga at the Coliseum, moving them up to 11th.

Getafe's seven La Liga matches to date have produced just 11 goals, scoring only four themselves, by far the lowest in the Primera División. In stark contrast, Barcelona's matches have witnessed 38 goals, 11 more than any other team. Put succinctly, this really is a clash of styles at Camp Nou, but Barça's quality should see them blow Getafe away.

Goalkeeper Joan García picked up a knee injury during the 7-2 win over Racing Santander, making him a doubt, so Wojciech Szczęsny will continue to deputise, if the first-choice has not recovered. Elsewhere, Raphinha returned home early from international duty, after suffering a thigh strain in Brisbane, but this is not believed to be serious, so the top-scorer could be involved here.

Across the forward line, Anthony Gordon scored three in three for England during the break, while Lamine Yamal opened the scoring during each of Spain's first three matches, so should be full of confidence too.

Getafe team news

Mario Martín can return in midfield, having been sent off against Real Betis the game before last, but Abdel Abqar, Juanmi and Christantus Uche are all sidelined long-term. Borja Mayoral twiced scored against Barcelona during victories for Levante, so could he be the hero again?

Predicted Line-ups

  • Barcelona predicted lineup: Szczęsny; E García, Cubarsí, Martín, Espart; Rodri, Pedri, Fermín López; Lamine Yamal, Gordon, Jesus.
  • Getafe predicted lineup: Soria; A García, Djené, Romero, Mojica; Serrano, Gudelj, Mangala, Azón, Satriano; Ünal.
