FC Barcelona's 2024/25 season has been brilliant so far. Coming on the back of a spectacular win against Bayern, the Barcelona club is in brilliant form and would want to continue the same as they face Real Madrid next. However, certainly, given the star-studded lineup Carlo Ancelotti's side has, with them enjoying the home advantage in the fixture, it won't be any easy for Barca either.
Former Barcelona star makes bold claim in favor of prodigy star ahead of El Clasico
As has been the history of the infamous FC Barcelona-Real Madrid rivalry in European football, El Clasico has always been a relish for football fans, but it seems that it will be even more special this time. Currently, Real Madrid is on a 42-game unbeaten streak in La Liga, and with the 43rd game being the El Clasico, Barca has the best opportunity to defend their 43-game unbeaten streak in the competition.
Moreover, while there already is a lot to fight for both sides in the fixture, a recent statement from a former Barcelona star has added even more spice to it. Argentine superstar Sergio Aguero, who made a few appearances for FC Barcelona, has made a bold claim ahead of the El Clasico, involving Barca's prodigy star Lamine Yamal and Ballon d'Or favorite Vini Jr.
Although the 5-time PL winner seemed much in awe of both the star players, expressing his desire to play with them both, Aguero mentioned that he prefers Yamal of the two. Praising the 17-year-old prodigy, Sergio Aguero went to say,
""Lamine has many more talents than Vinicius, although Vinicius has more experience with the titles he’s won with Madrid. Vinicius is in the 'top 3' in the world, but in terms of age and talent, I prefer Lamine. I would like to play with both, with me as the striker.""
- Sergio Aguero
While clearly, Yamal has been one of the best-emerging stars in European football recently, such a bold claim feels a bit too early as compared to Vini Jr., who has been proving his heroics for the last few years for Real Madrid. Already having some of the most iconic titles, with him being away from his potential first Golden Ball, it might be a bit unfair on Aguero's part to compare Vini Jr. with Yamal.
However, while it remains in question if such a massive statement is a bit too early to consider or not, this has definitely added to the much-awaited fixture's heat. Barca fans would hope that prodigy star Lamine Yamal manages to provide justice to Aguero's bold claim by delivering yet another masterclass, leading the side to a dominant victory.
