Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed a surprise Barcelona move in the summer transfer window, with the Catalan giants stepping up their search for attacking reinforcements by submitting a bid for one of the Bundesliga's most exciting wingers.
The club have reportedly lodged an official offer with Borussia Dortmund for Karim Adeyemi. According to another trusted source at the club, Gerard Romero, the Blaugrana have presented a formal proposal to the German club, while Adeyemi has made it clear that Camp Nou is his preferred destination and is keen for the transfer to be completed this summer.
The 24-year-old remains under contract with Borussia Dortmund until June 2027, meaning Barcelona must negotiate a transfer fee with the Bundesliga side before any deal can be finalised. A fee that is anticipated to be lower given that Adeyemi is approaching the final year of his contract.

Talks between the clubs are ongoing as Hansi Flick looks to add more pace, directness and depth to his attacking options ahead of the new campaign. Adeyemi's versatility across the front line makes him an attractive profile as Barcelona continue to strengthen their squad for the season ahead.
What can Adeyemi bring? And where will he fit in?
Adeyemi's blistering pace, versatility and ability to operate anywhere across the front line make him an attractive option for Hansi Flick, who is keen to add greater depth and explosiveness to his attack. With negotiations continuing, Barcelona will be hoping to reach an agreement and secure one of their priority targets before the new season gets underway.
The addition of Adeyemi will surely make a 4x100 metre relay sprint interesting across the La Liga clubs with the German, Anthony Gordon both rapid, while Lamine Yamal and Raphinha are no slouches either.
His Bundesliga numbers may not immediately catch the eye, having registered 26 goal contributions in 53 appearances across the past two seasons. However, Barcelona believe there is far more to unlock in the Germany international, whose pace and direct style could flourish in a more attack-minded side that creates a greater volume of chances.
Reports suggest Adeyemi would provide competition and cover for Lamine Yamal on the right wing primarily, with Roony Bardghji expected to head elsewhere in search of regular first-team football. Crucially, the move is not expected to impact Barcelona's pursuit of a centre-forward, with the club still determined to bring Julián Álvarez to Camp Nou.
This summer could become the pinnacle of Barcelona transfers should they get Alvarez over the line with the Argentine completing a favoured top 3, while the back-up option will be sure to beat most Champions League and La Liga clubs.
