Barcelona are continuing their operation to acquire the best young talents in Europe. They have sealed a move for 18-year-old winger Jesse Bisiwu who comes from the Belgian team, Club Brugge. The transfer has been reportedly confirmed after they had finalised the contractual agreements on Wednesday.
He paid a visit to the Ciutat Esportiva this afternoon to sign his contract where he was received personally by Deco, the Sporting Director of Barcelona, as per the report by Mundo Deportivo.
Signing fees and clauses of his move
Barcelona have kept an eye on the young prospect for months and have managed to convince him to sign for the club. Due to the potential he offers, he has been viewed as a target to cover the future positions in attack.
Barcelona paid a figure of €8.5M to the Belgian club, along with a 20% sell-on clause in case of a future resale.
Who is Jesse Bisiwu and what does he contribute to Barcelona?
Jesse Bisiwu is an 18-year-old player who is 1.85 meters in height, characterised by his blistering speed, incredible technical skill, and electric dribbling, which makes him incredibly difficult for defenders to stop him on 1v1 scenarios. He typically plays on the left wing, where he often unbalances defences and causes dangerous situations.
The 18-year-old was observed at length by Deco and the Barcelona scouting team, headed up by Joao Amaral, after excelling in Europe last season. He showed he had European elite level during the most recent UEFA Youth League, in which he played 8 matches scoring 3 goals and provided an assist, which in turn, took him all the way to the final with the Belgian team.
First Team Dynamics vs. Registration
Bisiwu will officially play for the B team (Barca Atletic) but because of the club’s expectations for him, he will operate with a first team dynamic. He is expected to fly out with the Blaugrana squad for their final days of pre-season, so we may see him feature for the first time, against Udinese and Nottingham Forest at a triangular tournament in Udine.
