Deportivo La Coruna has received the green light from Marc Casado and is working around the clock to close a deal with FC Barcelona. The move looks imminent with only final details remaining. A move which spells a new chapter for the young midfielder; it comes after months of disruption at Camp Nou due to a strained and messy transfer saga.

A relationship fractured in May
Casado’s Barcelona career effectively ended in May, as the midfielder endured a face-to-face conversation with head coach Hansi Flick which confirmed his plans for the 20-year-old midfielder. The manager detailed that he did not fit within his project for the upcoming season.
But, to avoid moving immediately, Casado killed his entire transfer process. His stance had an unforeseen ripple effect; his stagnancy meant Barcelona, accelerated the exit of Tommy Marquez: a central midfielder actually preferred by the manager, to meet the financial demands.
The collapse: Monaco and Deco’s frustration
Early June saw sporting director Deco agree a £23million offer, including add-ons, with Ligue 1 side AS Monaco for a permanent transfer, only for Casado to reject it. He torpedoed any chance of a transfer for a player pushed out months ago, leaving the Blaugrana with a dilemma that has spilled into the dying moments of the window.
And now the deal that will get the 20-year-old over the line will be a loan move to Deportivo La Coruna, a deal far from the priority it represented to Deco who yearned to pocket an immediate, large transfer fee.
For Casado, the move to Deportivo represents a crucial opportunity to rebuild his value and secure regular playing time away from the tactical friction in Catalonia.
