4 Talking Points from FC Barcelona 2-1 Athletic Club
FC Barcelona registered an important win against historically tough opposition to make it 2 wins from their opening 2 games.
3. Lewandowski fires home the winner... Again
Robert Lewandowski's ability at the top level was questioned in the summer after the Polish international endured a goal drought towards the end of last season. Two matches into the 2024/25 campaign, and Barca's No. 9 seems to have regained his best form. The attacker was involved in almost all of Barcelona's attacks and was a constant threat in the Bilbao penalty area.
Two difficult shots from tight angles caught the woodwork, and he forced a brilliant save from Padilla midway through the second half. His goal would soon come, though, as he slotted home with a cool finish after Pedri's initial cross was half-saved by the keeper. With three goals from 2 games, Lewandowski seems to be the one benefiting the most from the managerial change.
