Their ongoing pursuit of Nico Williams, halting to go for Joao Felix, and increasing interest in the Spanish Euro star states that the Catalan club has set their priorities clear for this transfer window.

Not long ago, FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta clearly stated his intentions to see Dani Olmo along with Nico Williams in the Catalan camp next season. Though he had also announced that Barca could face the new signings, it is evident that the club needs a big sale to smooth the arrival of the Spanish duo.

Regarding this, Barca insider Jijantes FC reported an interesting update on the need for a player sale,

"“I'm not going to say a name, but today there were 2 representatives who gave me the name of a Barça player who could be put on the market in the event of Dani Olmo’s arrival, and I didn't expect this name.”"

As mentioned, Barcelona's board wants to acquire Dani Olmo's services, and they are ready to do a big player sale to facilitate the deal. But the big question is: who is going to be the player? Who will be seen in the transfer window for Olmo's deal?

The Catalan player who tops the shortlist is the Dutch midfielder, Frenkie De Jong. In the past, there have been many transfer rumors linking the box-to-box midfielder to Manchester United. The Red Devils were just an inch away from acquiring De Jong for the 2022–23 season.

However, the midfielder didn't agree to the move, which saw him feature in the Barca jersey in successive seasons. But fans suspect that he might be the first choice for the club to lay off, as Barca seems to have quite versatile midfield options in Pedri, Gavi, Fermin, Ilkay Gundogan, and possibly Dani Olmo.

Not long ago, rumors were spread in the air that Hansi Flick would talk with Gundogan, and if he wanted to leave, Barca wouldn't stop him. Having reached a considerable age of 33, the German veteran might agree to a transfer move, which might facilitate Barca's situation.

Just to remind you, he was the first player to be rumored for Olmo's arrival, making him a big suspect in the player sale. Moreover, similar to De Jong's case, Gundogan's possible deal can easily cash in €35 million–€50 million, which approximates the funds required for Euro Top scorer Dani Olmo.
