FC Barcelona have officially proposed an offer for Spanish midfielder Dani Olmo. As Barca continue to attack their summer transfer window, they find themselves inching closer and closer to the signings of two massive young talents.

According to new reports, club President Joan LaPorta has given “the green light” to initiate the signings of both Nico Williams and Dani Olmo. With both budding Spanish talents commanding a release clause north of €60M, it’s unclear exactly how Blaugrana plans to  clear the requisite hurdles to make room for both signings, but the club hasn’t budged from their original stance — they feel financially prepared, and are optimistic about their chances at acquiring both players.

The addition of both Olmo and Williams would completely transform the Barcelona attack, injecting a strong dose of pace and precision to what is already a youthful bunch. Dani Olmo’s command of the ball in and around the box would go a long way towards fortifying Barca’s midfield, tremendously enhancing their link-up play in the final-third.

Limited by the unavailability of Gavi, Pedri, and De Jong last season, Barcelona could never establish any consistency in their midfield. Historically speaking, Barca have routinely displayed connectivity from back to front, organically manufacturing quality shots through purposeful player and ball movement. With so many injuries in the middle of the pitch, the squad was ill-equipped to attack the channels in the opponents half with the same force and audacity as they would at full strength.

Dani Olmo’s arrival reintroduces a sense of vigor to the Blaugrana midfield, his versatility opening up many schematic opportunities for head coach Hansi Flick. The newly appointed manager has openly expressed interest in the player, and it’s fair to assume that he’s already dreamt up a couple of tactics to harness all of Dani Olmo’s unique attacking qualities.

While Dani Olmo is the ideal summer signing for Blaugrana, Nico Williams is the more attractive target in the eyes of the public and the players alike. Spaniards Yamal, Gavi, and Balde have all commented under Williams’ most recent Instagram post, each hinting at the imminent acquisition of one of Europe’s most coveted wingers.

The Barca board implore that they are well-positioned to compete the dual-transfer before the summer window closes. A number of Europe’s top clubs have already submitted competing offers for the pair of Spanish talents but Barca feel they have the upper hand in current negotiations, as Camp Nou is reportedly the preferred destination of both players.
