Roque's Barca career under Xavi

In his fourth game as a substitute, Roque announced his arrival with a match-winning goal in a 1-0 win against Osasuna on 31 January. The next game, he scored again as a super sub in a 3-1 win against Alaves.

Barcelona thought they had a generational talent on their hands. However, fast forward to July, and there is uncertainty regarding the Brazilian's future at the club. On top of that, Roque wasn't included in the Brazil squad for the Copa America 2024 as well.

Preseason presents Vitor Roque an opportunity

With the preseason training starting on 10 July, there is hope for Vitor to take his Barcelona career on track. With Xavi gone and Hansi Flick arriving to replace him, it's a fresh start again for Roque under the German manager.

On top of that, the departures of Joao Felix and academy striker Marc Guiu now make Vitor Lewandowski's backup in the squad. Also, with players like Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres, and Fermin Lopez, who will likely join the team in the closing stretch of the preseason, there is around a month for Vitor Roque to show his capabilities to Flick to get more game time or even start a lot of games this season.
