Loanee star still dreams of returning to FC Barcelona
- Joao Felix still dreams of returning to the Blaugrana club.
- Aston Villa and Benfica are in the race for Joao Felix.
Amidst the ongoing Nico Williams deal and the upcoming preseason fixture against Manchester City, reports have emerged regarding a loanee Barca star. Once a star performer having the highest potential, is now craving to make a return to the Blaugrana camp.
Since Joao Felix's loan deal with Barca ended on 30th June, things haven't been going smooth in the Portuguese forward's professional career. Being stuck between Atletico Madrid and FC Barcelona, Felix's situation at either of the clubs looks concerning. While Barcelona seems unlikely to sign him for Atleti's asking price, on the other hand, his relations with Atletico don't favor him either.
Joao Felix still dreams of returning to FC Barcelona
Even though Joao Felix has returned to Atletico Madrid for the Preseason training, he doesn't want to go on the club's Asian tour. According to recent reports, he still wants a return to Barcelona, which, unfortunately, looks very difficult. FC Barcelona's ongoing journey to reach the 1:1 rule, along with targeting signings like Dani Olmo and Mikel Merino, doesn't seem to be on their priority list.
Given the fact that FC Barcelona's roster already includes a plethora of attacking options, including Lewandowski, Roque, and Pau Victor, the Portuguese wants only to return to Barca. Not only that, reports point out that he prioritizes a Barça move even if Dani Olmo and Nico Williams join.
Analyzing the deal from Barca's perspective, Joao Felix hasn't been in good form recently. Having had a mediocre Euro campaign in which he missed a penalty, costing Portugal the semi-finals, Felix has had quite a dry run recently. Moreover, with youngsters like Roque and Pau Victor fighting for a place in the eleven, he might not even be the second-priority forward at the Blaugrana club.
All these points suggest that Felix should try to revive his career, potentially moving to clubs like Aston Villa or Benfica, where he would get the opportunity of much-needed game time, which would not only help Felix but end the worries of Atletico Madrid selling him.
