FC Barcelona receives another blow as Tottenham Hotspur hijacks the Bergvall race. On 2nd February, Bergvall travelled to London for his medicals and signed for Spurs until 2029. The Swedish midfielder will move to north London by the start of the 2024-25 season.

The North London club paid close to €10 million as the player's release clause. This was more than Barça's offer of €7 million. But the release clause wasn't a problem, as Deco convinced Bergvall and his family in a meeting in Barcelona.

The Blaugranes were dead set on their offer and assured that they'll sign him in the next transfer window. Reports claim that after their Barcelona meeting, the Swedish family had another meeting scheduled with Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou and Daniel Levy.

In the London meeting, the Spurs management succeeded in convincing the youngster. Bergvall will continue playing for Swedish side Djurgården IF until the end of the season and join Spurs next season. This is one of the biggest blows Barcelona has faced in the transfer market in recent times.

FC Barcelona's Crisis Continues

FC Barcelona couldn't sign a single player through this transfer window. Deco even announced,

"The demands of this club make it not easy to find players and with the Fair Play that we have. We will fight with what we have!"

Adding to the nightmare, Xavi announced his resignation, and they got knocked out of Copa del Rey and Supercopa de España. The only competitions that remain within grasp are La Liga and the Champions League, which are going to be harder than ever to win.

The Financial Fair Play crisis continues as the Catalan giants aren't allowed to register any new players. Vitor Roque has been registered on the pretence of Gavi's injury. As soon as Gavi returns, the club needs to find a solution for the registration problem.
