Since the change of century in 2000, FC Barcelona has emerged as one of the best football clubs in European football. Having witnessed some modern-day greats, including Leo Messi, Iniesta, Luis Suarez, Xavi, Gerard Pique, and Neymar, Barca has been one of the most successful teams of the modern era.

Though a time came when the club witnessed its negative extreme, things have been going in the right direction at the club lately. Since the flick era began at FC Barcelona, the Blaugrana club has gotten reenergized with a spirit to do everything possible to make their Champions League dream a reality.

Flick's Barca era has been successful so far, going for some of the biggest transfer prospects, revolutionizing training techniques, and blending the German discipline in every aspect. Possessing some of the biggest talents of football history, including Lamine Yamal, De Jong, Pedri, Araujo, and Gavi, the club has been donned by the best youngsters of modern football.

On that note, let's take a look at FC Barcelona's strongest playing XI for the season 2024/25:-

Goalkeeper and Defense

Given the stature the German goalkeeper Marca Andre Ter Stegen has earned at the Catalan club, he would continue as the number one goalkeeper for the upcoming campaign as well. Moreover, with Sergi Roberto's exit, Ter Stegen could be seen in a new role, leading the Blaugrana club under the management of Hansi Flick.

Off the left, most probably, Alejandro Balde would start, considering the ongoing tussle for FC Barcelona to renew Joao Cancelo. Given the full-back's ability and strength to reinforce the left wing-back role, Balde seems the perfect fit to have a breakout season under Hansi Flick. On the opposing flank, Jules Kounde would feature. Coming on the back of a brilliant star-making Euro campaign, eyes would be on the Frenchman to form a rock-solid duo alongside Balde, which not only helps in the backline but manages to provide offensive assistance.

Covering the German goalkeeper and leading the Blaugrana backline will be the duo of Ronald Araujo and Pau Cubarsi. The duo's heroics didn't go unnoticed last season, especially the defensive show the duo put on against PSG in the 1st quarterfinal leg. Having a warrior defender in Ronald Araujo and a talented youngster with complete dedication in Cubarsi, the duo seems enough to bolster the Barca backline.

Midfield

At the central attacking position, there can't be a better option than Dani Olmo. Returning from an impressive campaign at the Euros, being the top scorer, the Spaniard boasts much confidence to launch crucial goal contributions in the final third. Add to that his versatility to feature as a midfielder or as a winger, and the former La Masia prodigy possesses in him a complete package with the will to perform his best for the club.

Assisting in from the central midfield role, the Dutch midfielder Frenkie De Jong would start in the playing XI. Being one of the most consistent performers of the Catalan club, high hopes would be for him to showcase the flair he possesses to control the game from the middle of the park.

And, to fill in the missing piece of the midfield comes the most talented Barcelona midfielder at present, Pedri. Having similar roles to fulfill as De Jong, the creative playmaker's ability to make in long through balls and control the possession in tight spaces would have much stake associated with it in the 2024/25 campaign.

Attack

Starting in from the left wing position would be none other than Nico Williams. Given the rich vein of form he has been in throughout the Euros, the youngster deserves to be the starting winger at the Blaugrana club. Combine it with his duality with Lamine Yamal on the other flank, and it's job done for FC Barcelona.

Spearheading the attack would be Flick's most dependable target man, Robert Lewandowski. Being aware of what the duo did during their time at Bayern Munich, Lewandowski's 2024/25 campaign could be the best Barcelona season of his career.

Undoubtedly, to fill in the right-wing slot would be Barca's young sensation, Lamine Yamal. After putting up a show for the Spanish side at the Euros, the youngster's brilliance needs no introduction, making him a challenging player to tackle for any opposition backline.
