Williams has been superb in this Euros tournament as Spain was the only unbeaten side in the Group stage and then defeated Georgia 4-1 to progress to this afternoon's much-anticipated quarter-final with hosts Germany.

National teammates persuade Nico to join Barca

The talented winger has, along with other teammates attracted the attention of top clubs around Europe with his pace, trickery, and goal-scoring flair all evident.

According to Transfermarkt, Williams has a release clause in his Athletic contract until his contract runs out in June 2027. Considering the interest in the Basque striker, chances are high that the transfer would demand the clubs to pay the £46 million release clause.
Now it seems that several of his Spain teammates are trying to persuade him that the star should join them there.

Premier League-a possible destination for Nico Williams

Two other interested parties are supposedly English Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea.
However, Chelsea has an upper edge compared to their PL rivals as they already have an established Spanish international in their squad. Left-back Marc Cucurella - who has also shone in the Euros - is keen for Williams to follow him and re-locate to West London.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have strong Spanish connections with manager Mikel Arteta, hailing from the Basque region where Atletic are from.
The North London club - which finished runners-up to Manchester City for the last two campaigns - have just signed Spain goalkeeper David Reya on a permanent deal after his successful loan spell last season.

Additionally, Arteta's recent interview has clarified the Gunners intend to be very active and aggressive in this summer's transfer market as he searches for the new signings needed to get his hands on the PL trophy.

Despite the lure of London life and the chance to play in the Premier League, Barcelona's Pedri is still confident he can convince the Bilbao ace to stay in Spain and swap the Basque club for Catalonia.
However, it seems more probable that if Atletic end up selling him this summer, they would prefer their 21-year-old star to move to England rather than La Liga rivals Barcelona.
