Wojciech Szczesny officially becomes the new FC Barcelona player

Since FC Barcelona's 5-1 fixture against Villarreal ended, arriving with a season-ending injury for star keeper Ter Stegen, questions have been raised as to who could be a proper replacement for the seasoned Barcelona star. While certainly Barca boss Flick and staff held faith in prodigy keeper Inaki Pena, they decided to pursue veteran star Wojciech Szczesny for more options in the role.

Although reports had long confirmed that the former Juventus star stands on the verge of joining FC Barcelona, the obvious finally happened, with the club announcing his signing. As per the official club announcement,

Soon after completing the contract's formalities, the 34-year-old acekeeper, in his first media address as a Barcelona player, responded to many much-awaited questions. Clearly, the way his signing processed this fast within the last week surely would go down in history as one of the most exciting cases of player replacements. ""I don't usually believe in fate and things written in the stars... But a lot of things had to happen for me to sign for Barcelona, and here I am. It had to be written somewhere.""

Moreover, as passionate as he has always been, Szczesny seemed rather excited to kickstart his new journey at the Blaugrana club. In the media address, the three-time Serie A Champion seemed pretty confident about handling his role at the club; however, uncertainty looms about his Barcelona debut. Szczesny expressed uncertainty about when he could be ready to play, saying,

""I can't tell you now; maybe in two weeks I will know. But I feel that I can prepare and be ready. Because if I wasn't confident that I could do it, I wouldn't have taken on this challenge.""
