Since the beginning of the summer transfer window, it has been the priority of FC Barcelona to make a high-profile signing for their left wing. Initially targeting Nico Williams, then Luis Diaz, and now Rafael Leao and Fede Chiesa, the club has been active in talks for these signings. However, with just a few days left in the transfer window, the Blaugrana club still finds itself nowhere near a concrete deal.
Would FC Barcelona be able to sign a left-wing reinforcement before the deadline day?
Since Nico Williams' deal turned cold at the club and Luis Diaz was ruled out from the shortlist, it was certain that the only acquirable option for the club remains Federico Chiesa. However, the management isn't still giving up on an almost impossible option, Rafael Leao, and taking Chiesa's deal too casually. Thus, the question arises: would FC Barcelona be able to sign a left-wing reinforcement before the deadline day?
As per recent reports from Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan club hasn't given up on Leao, even though they see it as difficult. The reports state they will try for him in the last days of the transfer window. On the other hand, Fede Chiesa's deal, which could be the most viable option as per the current scenario, isn't being much advanced by FC Barcelona.
Recent reports from Transfer Expert Fabrizio Romano suggest that Barça has not yet submitted any offer for Federico Chiesa, despite the rumors. According to sources, Chiesa's agent and Barcelona have reached an agreement in principle on the player's terms, although no formal offer has yet been sent to Juventus.
Barca insider Adrian Sanchez reported that the club, focused on player sales to make way for Olmo's registration, hasn't sent any offers to Juventus. Fabrizio Romano recently reported that the Italian winger is keen on a potential Barcelona move, but still, much activity hasn't been going on regarding finalizing his deal.
With less than a week left before the deadline day, it certainly looks difficult for the Blaugrana club to manage Chiesa's signing along with Dani Olmo's registration. In fact, despite considerable player sales of Julian Araujo, Mika Faye, Clement Lenglet, and Vitor Roque, the club feels away from Olmo's cause.
Overall, Barca hasn't sent any offers for Chiesa till now, with the club focused on Olmo's registration. With less than a week left in the transfer window, things certainly would be difficult for FC Barcelona to make Chiesa's signing, and the club needs to be much quicker if they want to reinforce their left-wing this summer.
