FC Barcelona have updated their official website to add Robert Lewandowski's name to their illustrious list of 'Legendary Players, acknowledging his role as one of the defining characters of this modern era of the club.
Since his recent departure to join Major League Soccer outfit Chicago Fire, after a highly significant four years at Camp Nou, the Polish striker left a massive mark on the club. He joined in the summer of 2022 from Munich, during a period of significant change, becoming an immediate focal point of the attack and providing the fire-power that Barcelona so critically lacked.
Goals and trophies: a truly phenomenal combination
The inclusion of Lewandowski amongst the likes of Lionel Messi, Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Carles Puyol is well justified when observing the incredible statistics of the player.
In the space of just four seasons he found the back of the net 120 times in all competitions, placing him 14th in FC Barcelona's all-time top goalscorers list, a feat made even more impressive considering his age when he arrived at the club.
He was able to translate these goalscorers into tangible silverware, securing:
- 3 Laliga titles (2022-23, 2024-25, 2025-26)
- 1 Copa del Rey (2024-25)
- The Pichichi Trophy (2022-23), in his very first season on a reported 23 league goals.
Mission accomplished in Barcelona
In his farewell message to fans, prior to his move, Lewandowski spoke of the time in Barcelona being 'the most beautiful chapter of my career', and that he felt that his mission – restoring Barcelona to the top of Spanish football, had been a fulfilled one.
Now leading the line for Chicago Fire, the rapid addition of Lewandowski to the club's Legendary players list demonstrates that the feeling is reciprocal.
The feeling is that, though his time at the club may not have matched that of club legends like Messi, Iniesta or Xavi, and may indeed have been short, it was immediate. It was impactful and it was entirely justified of the title of 'Legend'.
