Arsenal have been given a huge boost to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Layvin Kurzawa after Barcelona pull out of the race.

Kurzawa was seen as the ideal full-back for Barcelona, as they were in the market for both a left and a right back. Jordi Alba has been a dominant left-back for many years at the Nou Camp but has been showing signs of fatigue and loss of motivation, especially in the match again Liverpool. Barca are eager to sign a consistent backup for Alba.

Right-back is another troubled role at Barca with both Nelson Semedo and Sergi Roberto sharing minutes. The Catalans have reportedly decided that they seek a new player altogether.

Kurzawa was seen as the best option in the current market especially as he would have been able to transfer for free after his contract expires. The Sun reports that the Spanish giants are yet to speak to Kurzawa’s representatives.

Arsenal are another team heavily linked with the PSG star having previously been in an advance talk stage in January. Despite failing to secure the 27-year-old mid-season last year, the Gunners remain interested in signing the French international.

Sport previously reported that PSG had opened their doors for Barca to sign the Frenchman as they were edging close to Alex Telles themselves.

Barca might benefit by pulling out of the race as it gives them the opportunity to rely on existing players rather than signing a top talent who has struggled in recent years.

Should Barca sign a player to fix their full-back issues or rely on their youth?
