Barcelona considering French coach as the perfect one-season solution.

Barcelona are very close to sacking Quique Setien ahead of next season with French coach, Laurent Blanc, being named as the perfect solution.

More from Everything Barca

It is no surprise that the current Barca boss has an extremely uncertain future ahead of him with every game being named his last after losing the La Liga crown to rivals Real Madrid. Reports have surfaced considering multiple replacements for the 61-year-old with the likes of Xavi Hernandez, Pep Guardiola, and Ronald Koeman, all being named the favorites to land the job.

A common issue with each of these alternatives is that none of them are available for the next season, and will only join once a new president is elected after the elections in 2021. This leaves the Catalans with limited options for next season after a disappointing campaign this year, going trophyless ahead of a tough Champions League draw.

After considering the current ‘B’ team coach, Francisco Javier García Pimienta, as an option, the club receives a unique offer from an unemployed French coach who had tremendous success during his time with Paris Saint-Germain between 2013-2016, where he won everything but the European glory.

Laurent Blanc is being heavily considered as a one-season solution for the Catalans after being vetoed by fellow Frenchman and Barca’s sporting director, Eric Abidal. The idea is that the former PSG boss will come for a single season without being impacted by the presidential campaign in the following year.
