Barcelona prepares a surprisingly costly bid for Leicester City center-back.
Barcelona are in the market for a new defender despite nearing the signing of former La Masia graduate, Eric Garcia, from Manchester City after their manager, Pep Guardiola, confirmed that the youngster has rejected the option to continue at the Etihad Stadium, desiring a move to the Nou Camp.

Garcia’s arrival is phenomenal for the Catalans as they are in need of a new center-back especially a long-term heir to 33-year-old Gerard Pique. Garcia, having graduated from Barca’s academy and developing under Guardiola, could be the perfect candidate to take over Pique’s role.
Meanwhile, Clement Lenglet has established himself as the undisputed starter and at 25-years of age, could potentially play for Blaugrana for many more years to come. Unfortunately, Lenglet’s fellow national teammate, Samuel Umtiti, has been largely underperforming since his knee injury and many believe his departure is imminent.
The Barca board have already decided to promote ‘B’ team defender Ronald Araujo to fill in the lack of center-backs in the current squad with Garcia being linked with a move either before or after the upcoming season.
While the negotiations with Manchester City are ongoing, Barca are also looking at another Premier League defender. According to NTV Spor, the Spanish giants are preparing a 40 million euro bid for Leicester City’s 24-year-old defender, Caglar Soyuncu.
The Turkish international is prepared to commit the next 5 years at the Camp Nou as he awaits his employers to reach an appropriate transfer fee to green-light his move. Soyuncu has been a successful replacement for Harry Maguire, who joined Manchester United last year on a record transfer.
