Barcelona boss wanted Arsenal superstar but has had a change of heart.

Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman reportedly wanted Arsenal’s Pierre Emerick Aubameyang over at the Nou Camp this summer according to Express. However, the 33-year-old has penned a new deal and the Catalans are now heavily monitoring the situation of Lyon’s Memphis Depay. The Dutchman has reportedly agreed on terms with the Blaugrana, according to top tier journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Catalan side have had a horrible couple of seasons under Quique Serien and Ernesto Valverde and they are looking to build back up from scratch. They are heavily interested in signing Lyon striker, Depay. According to Fabrizio Romano, Koeman has told youngster Riqui Puig to find another club as he will not be getting much minutes under him for the upcoming season. This has upset the Blaugrana fan base heavily as the youngster has a ton of potential.

According to reports, the Dutch coach also tried to sign Aubameyang as a replacement for Luis Suarez but the only problem is that the Gabonese international is also past his thirties, meaning he will only be a short term solution. While the club has switched their interest to the former Manchester United man as the Arsenal skipper signed a contract renewal to extend his stay in the Premier League.

The La Liga giants are looking to rebuild under the newly appointed coach. Suarez has been reportedly linked with an exit especially to Juventus as he has been informed by Koeman that he will not be a part of his plans. Hence, the Blaugrana are looking to sign a forward that will bolster the already stacked frontline. With Lionel Messi in form and Ansu Fati looking extremely promising, Barca can make a comeback. The coach has also made Ousmane Dembele aware that the winger will be a huge key during his time and it is about time the youngster makes a comeback. On top of that, Antoine Griezmann and newly arrived Francisco Trincao and Pedri will also fight for a spot. Konrad de la Fuente and Martin Braithwaite also hope to see regular minutes under the former Netherland boss. With so many attackers in the squad, Koeman will have to sell or loan players before securing a new arrival.

Depay would be a huge addition to this Barca side and they are also heavily linked to Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez as well. The Argentine is reportedly desperate to play with Messi and wants a move to the Nou Camp but his dream might not come true as the Barca captain might not be at the club next season. However, they’re heavily linked to the Argentine forward and that would be a massive move for Koeman’s men.
