Memphis Depay has the option to choose between Barcelona and PSG
Barcelona target Memphis Depay has multiple options for Summer.
Since his arrival at the Nou Camp, one of Ronald Koeman‘s main targets for a new Barcelona signing was Olympic Lyon’s Memphis Depay. The former Everton manager and the Lyon forward had great chemistry during their time at the Dutch International team.

However, due to innumerable financial problems at Barcelona, Ronald Koeman failed to bring in the forward during the summer transfer of 2020. Reports suggest that Memphis Depay is waiting for an offer in January and that he is ready to move to the La Liga side.
However, the former Manchester United winger apparently has options as current reports suggest that Paris Saint-Germain will be entering the race for the Dutchman. The Lyon forward is heavily talented and would make a great fit for PSG, as Kylian Mbappe is supposedly on his way out to join Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.
There are many reports that suggest that the Frenchman is going to move to the Bernabeu, hence it is natural for a club like Paris Saint-Germain to look for a replacement. As for Barcelona, it looks like they will have competition for Depay.
Barca sold Luis Suarez to Atletico Madrid and failed to land a proper replacement for him which has now led to Martin Braithwaite playing as a centre-forward. He is doing pretty well so far but he’s no Suarez.
Depay was heavily wanted by the new manager Koeman. The Olympic Lyon president had even decreased the forward’s price to 25 million euros for Barcelona to make the signing easily. The Blaugrana failed to even deliver that much given the current financial problems at the club.
Reports have also now directed towards Lionel Messi snubbing Manchester City to join the Parisians. If that’s the case, PSG can form a front three of Neymar, Depay, and Messi if Mbappe is to leave for Bernabeu.
Hence, it looks like the Blaugrana will not be able to land Depay without some competition from Thomas Tuchel’s side, and thus must decide quickly whether they want the forward or not. Unfortunately for the Catalan giants, they cannot make any decision until a new president is elected, which won’t happen until 24th of January, 2021, by which time, the transfer window will be in its final week.
Will Depay be a great addition to Barca?
