Barcelona keen to secure young Leicester City midfielder

Ronald Koeman’s Barcelona are reportedly looking to sign Leicester City’s Sidnei Tavares according to Sport. The midfielder plays for Leicester City’s youth team along with the Portugal youth squad. The midfielder is currently 19 years of age and his contract with the Foxes expires at the end of the current season. Blaugrana are heavily inquiring about the midfielder but must wait until a new president is elected to make any official moves but one thing is certain, Koeman is definitely interested in the player.

According to sources, Barca will be trying to convince the 19-year-old to join them in the January transfer itself, if a deal can be worked out. However, if a potential deal does not fall through due to the club’s financial problems, the Spanish giants will be going after the midfielder and try to land him on a free transfer at the end of the season.
The Portuguese international will be a free agent during the 2021 summer transfer window and it does not look like the Foxes are interested in offering the youngster a new contract.
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has not yet let the 19-year-old make a senior debut in any competitive fixture. However, the Portuguese did play one single half with the senior team during the pre-season fixtures. The former Liverpool coach hailed the youngster as a true talent and praised him after his decent performance in that game.
The only problem for Barcelona is that they are not the only ones interested in the talented midfielder. European giants like Juventus, AC Milan, Olympic Marseille, Bayern Munich, Porto, and Brendan Rodgers’ former side Celtic, are all interested in the youngster. For now, Koeman’s side look like the favorites to land the signature of the Portuguese. Tavares is also the cousin of former Manchester United star Luis Nani.
