Wjinladum, 30, is one of the topmost midfielders in Europe and is a welcome addition to the Blaugrana. The midfield line-up of the former La Liga champions looks more or less settled now with Frenkie de Jong, Sergio Busquets, Georgino Wjinaldum, Pedri, and Nico Gonzalez.
While the 30-year-old has been a mainstay for Liverpool over the years, he has proven himself to be a big match player over the years, something that Barca needs more off, desperately.
It is understood that Wjinaldum has signed with the Blaugrana until 2024.
With the done deal between Wjinaldum and Barcelona, that makes it three free agents that are set to make the trip to Camp Nou this summer with the fourth player in Memphis Depay still contemplating on his future.
Eric Garcia, Sergio Aguero, and Georginio Wjinaldum are likely to be announced after the UEFA Champions League final.
It was understood last summer that Ronald Koeman wanted the services of Depay and Wjinaldum before the start of this season and their signings give us an insight into the possible extended stay of the former Dutch coach at the Camp Nou.
The team-building process has been going on steadily and the club now needs to count on their youngsters in Ousmane Dembele, Pedri, Ansu Fati, Nico Gonzalez, Riqui Puig, and Frenkie de Jong to step up next season.
This season saw Lionel Messi at his very best and some very encouraging signs when it came to the likes of Dembele, Pedri, and De Jong.
The biggest positive was the fitness of Ousmane Dembele who made 44 appearances this season, scoring 11 times and assisting on five occasions.
Should Barca sign Wijnaldum as a free agent?
