Joan Laporta and Mateu Alemany had previously talked about how they are looking to sell Umtiti and Pjanic in the upcoming summer transfer window. Juventus were interested in resigning Pjanic from the Blaugrana and many clubs including the high profile Manchester United were interested in Samuel Umtiti.
But as of right now, both players remain at the club. Pjanic may however join Juventus on loan for the upcoming season.
Among the clubs interested in taking Umtiti on loan are OGC Nice, AS Monaco and Turkish outfit Besiktas. Besiktas have also agreed to pay a high percentage of Umtiti’s big salary, hence making it easier for Barcelona to accept it.
Barcelona to send Samuel Umtiti on loan?
Even though Umtiti had made it clear that he did not want to leave the club and wanted to fight for his spot, he has been told that minutes for him at the club will be limited and hence a loan move suits him the best.
Other news agencies have suggested that Umtiti was waiting for a better offer from another elite club in Europe, but as of right now no “elite” European club is interested in signing the defender.
He did feature regularly in the pre-season, but he was booed as soon as came on to the pitch during the matchup against Juventus. Reports suggest that Umtiti was booed because he refused to take a pay cut to accommodate Lionel Messi at the club, due to which the Argentinian had to leave.
Koeman has also made it very clear to Umtiti that if he does decide to stay on at the club, he will not feature for Catalonian giants regularly this season.
The new season is not far off, Barca and Koeman need to make a decision on Samuel Umtiti soon. What do you think they should do?
