Demir currently plays for Kayserispor in his home country and is said to cost the Catalonian club a reported fee of 2 million Euros.
Reports also suggest that Barca have been following and scouting him for some time now, but even if a deal is agreed will only look to bring him to Barca when he turns 18 years old which will be in January. The contract is said to be for five years.
Demir however has shown a lot of promise already. He is currently the youngest goalscorer in the Turkish Super Lig, a feat he achieved when he was only 15 years old, and is being called the “Greatest young Turkish Talent”.
Barcelona close to signing Emre Demir
With Barca in a financial mess, they are looking to sign young players with high ceilings or players who will not cost them a fortune. While also looking to sell players with a high salary, like Samuel Umtiti, Miralem Pjanic and Philipe Coutinho.
If signed Demir can play a decent backup role to the senior forwards at the club like Sergio Aguero, Memphis Depay or even Antonio Greizmann.
Do you think the signing of a young talent like Demir will help Barca in the coming future? Do you think that Demir should be trusted with a place in the senior squad already or do you think Barcelona should play him in the B team for a while before sending him to the first team, something similar to what Koeman did with Yusuf Demir?
