Xavi’s return to Barcelona could reignite partnership with Qatar

Brining Xavi Hernandez into the club will not only be a wise move in terms of the actual game itself, but it could also be a great decision financially. This is because the former Barcelona player is currently the manager of the Qatari side, Al Sadd, and even lead them to an unbeaten season last season. His style of managing has completely changed the team and now they are the most dominant team in the Qatar Star League. Naturally, the club does not want to let him go however, the player has a great relationship with the owners of the club, on a professional level, as well as on a personal level and they will surely let him go to Barcelona.

This good relationship with the Qatar side could come in handy for Barcelona in the long run since the nationally run Qatar Airways used to be the sponsor for the Catalans side for a number of years before it got terminated in 2015. After Blaugrana won the treble that year, Josep Maria Bartomeu demanded Qatar Airways that they should get a new and improved deal. Negotiations did not go as planned, and the two sides terminated the contract on mutual grounds. In their place, the Japanese retail company, Rakuten, became the main sponsor of the club.

Now, with the involvement of Xavi, Barcelona could reignite the lost relationship between themselves and Qatar. Xavi could bring them new contact which could lead to new sponsorships and new contracts. This could be an amazing turn of events and a big sponsorship deal from Qatar would surely bring the club out of bankruptcy. With the new stadium underway, Qatar could also look to buy the naming rights of that stadium, which would again help out Barcelona a lot. Money is a necessity right now and the only way Barca can get out of their predicament is through new sponsorships.
