Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, is hellbent on bringing Erling Haaland to the club. The Borussia Dortmund striker who went on to shock the world with his mercenary like finishing was the player who interested Laporta the most and the president was talking about the player even before he was elected. Haaland was one of the main reasons why Laporta was selected because, although he did not directly say that he would be signing the striker, he made a lot of subliminal messages and the fact that Mino Raiola, Haaland’s agent, is one of Laporta’s good friends, only cemented the sentiment even more.

Barcelona keen on signing Mohamed Salah if Haaland deal falls apart

While the plan still remains the same and Barca will try their best to bring in the Norwegian striker, new reports suggest that Real Madrid, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are all interested in the player and all of them can pay a lot more than Barca. This is a huge knock to the Catalan’s plans who were hoping to secure the striker, as well as let go of Memphis Depay. However, it now seems as if they have identified their main alternative and that is Mohamed Salah of Liverpool. The Egyptian king’s contract is ending next year and apparently, the player is ready to move on from the Premier League.

According to reports from SPORT, the Merseyside legend is yet to sign a new contract with his current side but he is unwilling to do so. Salah is apparently looking to take the next step forward in his life and Barca seems like the perfect fit for him. The Catalans did want him a few years ago but the deal could not go through. Salah’s contract ends in 2023 however, if Barca really wants him, they will have to pay up to 70 million euros for the legend.

The winger is a consistent goal scorer which makes him perfect for the Blaugrana and his wages are comparatively less than Haaland’s. However, Haaland is the one who will have a long term future at the club and thus he will remain as the number one choice.
