MARC(S) MAKE THEIR MARK

Hansi Flick raised quite a few eyebrows when he handed17year old Marc Bernal his offici debut in the starting line up in a double pivot role alongside another La masia graduate; Marc Casado. It was a decision which eventually played dividend with the two players enjoying a solid performance to stake their place in the Barcelona midfield going ahead.

Bernal quietly went through his business, sweeping away the rare loose balls and maintaining a pass accuracy in excess of 90%. His stature and fluency in possession reminded of a certain Sergio Busquets and his performance resonated the faith shown in him by the manager. Bernal was trustworthy in possession and did a commendable job in his first start as a Barcelona player.

Marc Casado on the other hand was one of the best players on the pitch. His urgency in position and his willingness to track back to defend earned him praise from the Blaugrana faithful. The academy graduate is a versatile player who can play various roles in midfield and has managed to make a strong pairing alongside Bernal. Casado was involved in the build ups of most of Barcelona's noteworthy attacks and on another night, could have grabbed himself a goal for his showing. Hansi Flick is spoiled for choices as far as the midfield spots are concerned and the performances of the academy players would only make his job tougher(and better).
