André Trindade: Fluminense's Midfielder on FC Barcelona's Watchlist
By Shree Desai
FC Barcelona is currently interested in three Brazilian midfielders. All of them are defensive specialists who will replace the legend Sergio Busquets. Everyone is aware of Bruno Guimarães and Gabriel Moscardo but who is this third Brasilero? Let's find out.
Fluminense's André Trindade has had European heads turning with his performances. The 22-year-old has played for Fluzão 169 times, scored 4 and assisted 3 goals. According to Mundo Deportivo, the midfielder has his priorities set.
"Nothing came to me. I left that off the field and with my agents. On a day-to-day basis I focus on Fluminense. Barcelona and Real Madrid are great clubs, but I think I would choose Barcelona"
- André Trindade (via Mundo Deportivo)
Trindade has been a part of Fluminense's youth set-up since he was 12. The Brazilian made his professional debut at the age of 19, coming on as a substitute. André has already appeared for the Brazilian national team 4 times.
Can Barcelona Beat The Competition?
The Blaugranes can dream all they want, but the reality remains the same. FC Barcelona is not in a healthy financial condition to sign players. They need to offload some for the arrivals to balance the books.
The price tag on André is €30 million. This is going to be one of the busiest transfer markets for Barça. There are already players who are set to arrive and to make place for them there has to be some player sales.
Taking a look at the competition, the Brazilian is also on the radar of three other clubs. PSG, Liverpool and Fulham are also after the player's signatures. If the winner will be decided with a bidding war, then the Blaugranes are definitely in for a big upset.
All is not lost though as the Sporting Director of the Cules, Deco has great relations with Fluminense and the South American market as a whole. Some sources claim that Trindade dreams of playing in the EPL and others say that the Catalan capital is his dream. Which lucrative destination will the Brazilian choose remains to be seen?
