FC Barcelona's financial conditions have declined in the last few years. The latter years of Bartomeu's tenure saw the club make wrong transfer decisions, from Neymar's departure to the big signings of Ousmane Dembele, Phillipe Coutinho, and Antoine Griezmann, which didn't work out eventually. On top of that, the Catalans saw the matchday revenue and ticket sales strapped to nearly zero for the 20/21 season.

Joan Laporta, however, since returning to the presidency in 2021, has improved the financial conditions at the club. Signing the likes of Raphinha, Lewandowski, and Koundé while offloading the wages of senior players like Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba from the wage bill, the club is moving in the right direction financially.

Recently, La Liga President Javier Tebas has shared his opinion on this remarkable achievement. Speaking at the Sports Summit Mexico 2024, about Barca complying with the financial fair play and signing new players, he said,

""This year, of all the last few years, is the easiest for them. Barcelona knows what they have to do to bring in""

He further added,

""Three years ago, Barça's wage bill was €650M, now it's down to €450M.""

These are encouraging signs for the Blaugrana club as they have reduced their wage bill remarkably from 650M to 450M. That will help the club to land dream transfer targets like Nico Williams, who has been starring for Spain in the Euros alongside Lamine Yamal. Also, the club can brainstorm about signing quality free agents like Adrien Rabiot, whose agent has offered him to FC Barcelona.

Things are happening quickly at FC Barcelona as the Euros and Copa America reach their knockout stages, with preseason and transfer window preparations in full swing at the club.
