Since his signing in July 2022, Polish legend Robert Lewandowski has been one of the most consistent performers at the Catalan club. Having scored 33 goals in his debut La Liga campaign, he was instrumental in the club's memorable La Liga victory, considering that it had come at a significantly turbulent time in the club's history.
Robert Lewandowski: Being on the verge of being sold to finding his prime again
In the next season as well, although he scored a lot of goals, the club's number nine didn't look at his best, as Barca finished a rather underwhelming campaign without a single silverware. Although by numbers, Lewandowski had 35 goal contributions in the season, it seemed low for him, who had set the bar to around 50 goal contributions, normally.
Moreover, things had begun to take a sharp turn in the forward's Barca career as the in charge, Xavi, had the view of him not being as effective as he expected in the big games. In fact, as reports from Diario SPORT suggest, the Spanish manager had decided to sell the striker at the end of the 2023/24 season. However, with Xavi's sacking and Hansi Flick coming in as the new Barca boss, Lewandowski has, in a way, resurged his club career at FC Barcelona.
Flick, who had worked wonders with Robert Lewandowski, knew his utility in the forward line and had it certain that he would be the priority forward, stopping any exit moves for him. And ultimately, as was much needed by the Barcelona fans, the forward's reunion with Hansi Flick has, in a way, helped him find his prime again.
So far this season, Robert Lewandowski has netted the highest number of times in the opposition goal in the La Liga. Having nine goal contributions in just eight club appearances this season, the Polish legend seems to be rediscovering a new prime at the age of 36. Alongside Lamine Yamal on the right and Club Captain Raphinha on the left, the striker has been pivotal in the club's perfect La Liga campaign so far.
Clearly, the forward's journey from being on the verge of being sold early this summer to resurging himself, better than ever, at the club has been extraordinary. Barca fans would hope that Lewandowski continues in his rich form, winning many major titles and individual trophies at the Blaugrana club this season.
