The last few days have seen FC Barcelona heavily interested in bringing Euro Top Scorer Dani Olmo to the Catalan club. Though Olmo's goal-fetching abilities are sensational and would be a massive boost for Barca, Leipzig's transfer fee demand for his deal seems a bit more. As of now, Barca has submitted the second proposal for Olmo, having €55M fixed and €7M in variables for him, but as it stands, Leipzig doesn't seem interested in the offer.

Given Leipzig's rigidity to extract at least €60M in fixed fees from Barca, it doesn't look like a fair deal from Barca's point of view. Considering their flaccid financial conditions, the Catalan club would need a sale to fund this massive transfer fee, and with no player willing to leave, it feels that Olmo's deal would take a toll on Barca's conditions.

Moreover, given Barca's possession of young talents, they shouldn't be in this desperation for Dani Olmo. One such breakout star for FC Barcelona has been Fermin Lopez. Debuting for the first team last season, he had an incredible star-making campaign despite the club's underwhelming performance. Netting 11 goals in his 43 appearances for Barcelona last season, he has gathered the confidence of the Barcelona board.

Add to this his recent heroics with the Spanish national team. Even though the 21-year-old didn't get the game time in the Euros, the youngster is trying his best to prove his mettle on the Olympics stage. Amassing two goals against Japan in the quarterfinals and a goal against the Dominican Republic in their group fixture, Fermin has been simply spectacular.

Having the ability to score from both feet, from every possible angle, and banging in beautiful golazos from outside the box, he has everything Olmo would bring to the club. On top of that, his suffocating pressure, versatility, runs, play style of suffocating pressure, and brilliant instinct would make him a massive hit under Hansi Flick.

Built in with the Barca DNA, Fermin seems more than ready to kick in the next campaign with FC Barcelona. Speaking after the match, he said,

""I'm very excited for the new season, and I hope I can continue to help the club.""

Thus, overall, he has what Olmo's dream signing would cater to at the Catalan camp. On the other hand, Olmo's injury record may be a big concern, but in the context of Fermin's physique, he was one of the only Catalan players to remain injury-free despite playing most of the last season. Hence, Barca must rethink whether they need Dani Olmo, given Fermin's capability to do everything they need from Olmo.
