The former president has promised the fans a competitive squad filled with big names ready to compete against the likes of Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, and other European giants for the Champions League trophy.
While Laporta must take into account the ongoing financial crisis at the club, he remains optimistic about signing strong reinforcements for Barca. Many players have been linked with a move to the Nou Camp but one of the main targets identified by Laporta is none other than Dortmund’s lethal striker, Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian striker has been in fine form recently, competing against Kylian Mbappe for the title of the most promising and exciting youngster in the world. Laporta has been really impressed by the 20-year-old’s striking ability and wants to bring him to a striker-less Barca.
The former management lead by Josep Maria Bartomeu along with coach Ronald Koeman terminated club legend Luis Suarez’s contract without signing any replacement for the 34-year-old veteran. While Koeman wanted to sign Memphis Depay, the lack of funds forced the Catalans to find an alternative.
While the Dutch coach has found success, the lack of a proper no. 9 has been evident on many occasions when the squad fails to score despite creating numerous scoring opportunities. While many names have been linked to filling Suarez’s role, Haaland remains the favorite.

While Erling’s arrival will definitely bolster the squad, his signing is a complicated matter. While the finances related to the signing remains the biggest issue for the president, he is keen on making all efforts to make Haaland’s arrival a reality.
Sport reports that Laporta has already contacted Haaland’s agent, Mino Raiola, to talk about the current situation. Fans will be delighted to know that Laporta maintains a positive relationship with Raiola. Even the club’s technical director has a good relationship with the agent.
Meanwhile, Haaland has one more season left in his Dortmund contract and the move will all depend on his personal ambitions and where he would like to play.
