But considering the massive amount of debt that Barcelona is in, it will be a smarter strategy to utilize as many young players as possible. Barcelona are lucky to be gifted with the La Masia, considered one of the best youth football academies in world football.
La Masia has been home to some of Barcelona’s greatest stars including Lionel Messi, Xavi, Andres Iniesta, and more recently, players like Ansu Fati.
It will work in Barcelona’s favor to use some of these talents in the immediate future, as it will not only save them money but will also help continue the decade-long tradition of getting local youth players involved in the first team.
Alex Collado can help Barcelona rebuild this summer
One of the players who has been deserving of a run in the first team for a long time is 22-year-old Alex Collado.
Collado has consistently been one of the best players in the Barcelona B squad. The Spaniard who has been at the club since the tender age of ten is a midfield general. Like all of Barcelona’s great midfielders, he dictates the play and spearheads the attack.
However, that is not the only thing he brings with him. He is also extremely versatile. Collado can play on the right-wing or in the midfield. He is also a brilliant dribbler. His first touch and dribbling skills allow him to guide effortlessly through players.
Collado is also very good at set-pieces especially putting a cross in from the wings. If utilized on the right-wing, the young forward can help provide balance on the wing and cover-up for the many times Serginio Dest goes up the field to supplement the attack.
With Collado declaring, in a recent interview, that he wants to play for the first team and does not want to go back to the Barcelona B team, his intentions are clear.
