Complete recap of Barcelona's massive 2026 summer transfer window

Barcelona have come out of what is arguably one of their biggest and most influential transfer windows in recent modern history. Huge spending, sale of major veterans and shrewd youth product management defines this summer of 2026 and sets Barcelona up to start completely afresh at the Spotify Camp Nou.

Here is a comprehensive look at how the sporting department overhauled the squad.

Summer Signings

The Blaugrana made no hesitation about getting started and successfully snatched up two undisputed stars from Premier League clubs.

Dynamic young English winger Anthony Gordon was a massive investment for Barcelona with the Englishmen making an eye-watering move for a fee of €70m with a further €10m in add-ons, providing a huge boost of pace out wide.

Barcelona also sought to fix their defensive midfield vacuum and successfully tied up Spanish international Rodri in an enormous €60m signing with an additional €16.5m in add-ons making for a hefty purchase.

Barcelona also found some fantastic value elsewhere with prolific winger Karim Adeyemi joining from Germany for €22m and Gabriel Jesus being added to bolster attack for a meager €10m, providing huge value to the team.

The defence was further bolstered by the permanent free signing of the experienced Joao Cancelo, with Dominik Livakovic (2m) joining to cover in the goalkeeping department as back-up options.

Veteran sales and end of eras

With some major spending, comes some major selling and Barcelona were also willing to move on veterans.

Most notable was a legend leaving the Blaugrana as striker Robert Lewandowski’s contract expired whereas forward Marcus Rashford returned from his loan to his respective club. Barcelona were also swift to cash in on their man at forward, selling Ferran Torres to PSG for a huge €50m.

However, perhaps the most staggering moves were at the defence. Iconic defender Ronald Araujo was sent out on loan for the season and had a mammoth €55m buy option on his contract.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen also left for Ajax on loan. Further to that Inaki Pena was sold permanently for €3m.

Smart business for Barcelona's future

Sporting director Deco oversaw what can be described as a masterclass when dealing with the youth products of La Masia. Multiple high-potential players in La Masia were sold off for significant profit. However, Barcelona retained the majority of control over the players by including various buy-back and sell-on clauses, which offers Barcelona the chance to re-sign their future stars should they develop sufficiently well at other clubs.

Most notably, Barcelona finally got over Ansu Fati and his stagnant progress as they transferred him permanently for €11m plus a sell-on clause to mark an end to his carreer with Barcelona. Other high-potential young players such as Tommy Marquez (11m), Hector Fort (8m), Jofre Torrents (5.5m), Toni Fernandez (4m) and Alvaro Cortes (3m) were all moved on under such agreements.

To top off what has been an extremely productive transfer window both on and off the books, Barcelona were also able to make €4.8m in pure profit from a sell-on clause previously included in Jan Virgili's move.
