Attacking Priority: Turning down Osimhen

Reports from Sport, indicate that intermediaries offered Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen to Barcelona. Despite the striker's outrageous 100 million buy-out clause, Barcelona turned the approach down flat. The club know his salary would destroy any attempt at staying within La Liga's 1:1 spending cap.

Instead the Laporta and Deco are fully set on Julian Alvarez. The Atletico Madrid striker is insistent on making the move to Catalonia. Acquiring a versatile striker like Alvarez seems to fit perfectly within Hansi Flick's attacking system. Overspending in the transfer market on Osimhen is the last thing Barcelona need to be focusing on.

Defensive rebuilding: Lukeba and Cambiaso

A quick glance at Hansi Flick's systems and we can clearly see how he relies on an aggressive high line. Due to the huge spaces Barcelona leave in transitions, the club requires a quick left-sided centre-back capable of recovering at pace.

RB Leipzig's Castello Lukeba fits that mold perfectly. The 23-year-old Frenchman carries a 70+ million valuation. But if they can sign Lukeba, it instantly fixes one of the most glaring issues in transition for Barcelona and a physically gifted partner for Pau Cubarsi who is capable of playing the ball from the back.

Meanwhile, Calciomercato reports that Juventus are willing to accept a modest 30 million for Andrea Cambiaso after their inability to qualify for the Champions League. The 26-year-old Italian is a versatile full-back who plays well on both flanks. But it is hard to imagine Barcelona would spend 30 million on an asset that would make outgoing transfers necessary for wage clearance.

The Cancelo deal

The first and arguably the most important negotiation has to be with Joao Cancelo. Mundo Deportivo has reported that Al-Hilal has softened their stance on the Portuguese defender and have moved their stance from 15 million 10 million.

Cancelo this season has registered 1432 minutes, with 2 goals and 3 assists, and over 23 competitive appearances. Securing him on a permanent deal to 2028 would save Barcelona some much-needed capital whilst still keeping a dynamic presence in wide defensive areas of the pitch.

Cancelo is unwilling to return to Saudi Arabia and so Barcelona hold immense leverage regarding signing him. Every penny saved from the transfer could help Barcelona reach for targets such as Julian Alvarez and others whilst staying within La Liga's financial regulations.
