Hansi Flick addressed the media today ahead of the La Liga clash against Celta Vigo. Speaking to the media he laid out his plans and vision for Barcelona post Champions League elimination. He said his ambition is to win the Champions League with the club.
Hansi Flick is dead set with his ambition. He wants to bring back the UCL trophy back to the Camp Nou, and only after that he’ll think about retiring from management role.
These were Hansi Flick’s exact words, "My dream is to win the Champions League with Barça."
Flick believes the current team has a good structure and plenty of young players to build on and has warned against rash actions in the coming months, he specifically referenced the coming market, stating that he needs proper decisions to be made in terms of recruitment to make this team capable of being the best by the next season.
His focus on consistency should also be noted here. Despite being happy and proud with the existing group of players, Flick has acknowledged that he needs to add more quality to this squad.
He believes this side gave everything that they could in their defeat but felt there was still a gap between good play and winning titles, which will need the addition of certain personnel to bridge the divide.
He clearly mentioned the absence of Inigo Martinez, and his leadership abilities, and stated that Barcelona needs more character and momentum to win the Champions League.
Hansi Flick’s comments also came with assurance that Barcelona will only go for players whose profile fit tactically with his high-pressing system.
Barcelona will refrain itself from trying to exploit "market opportunities" that do not fit the tactical setup Flick intends to utilize.
